Say what?! Funky chemicals and how to avoid them.

Ladies/Gents: This is a topic I have been dying to write about. How many personal care products do men & women use on average every day? It’s around 4-12 depending on the person.

Personal care products can include: toothpaste, deodorant, aftershave, shaving cream, moisturizer, shampoo/conditioner, hairspray, mouthwash, gel, lotion, perfume/cologne…you get it. But it also includes the products you sometimes forget about like laundry detergent, dish soap, floor cleaner, lysol, your new couch, plastic tupperware, etc.

Many products that penetrate your skin or are ingested (including hairspray fumes) can be hazardous to your health. It depends on the product, solubility and size of molecules, but when this product has broken through your skin walls and into the bloodstream, it can cause serious issues like respiratory issues, skin irritations & allergies, hormone disruptors and many have links to cancer. Whether these chemicals cause harm depends on the amount that penetrates the skin and is absorbed, and how the chemical acts once it’s inside your body. Usually the body is finding a way to excrete it through our body fluids.

Over time, lets say 30 years of wearing deodorant, your body has had to filter through hundreds of pounds of toxic chemicals and bad things can happen.

It lets you look up the products you use and gives you a toxicity rating so as to help steer you to more friendly ingredients! I hope it helps you find better alternatives.
